CNAN Voter
Registration Project
Dear Participating
Affiliate,
You are receiving
this email because
your representative
signed a
participating
agreement regarding
the CNAN Voter
Registration
Project. Many of
you have been
patiently waiting
for the LEAP program
RFP to be released.
I just got the
following email from
Lindsey Daniels of
NCLR informing
affiliates of the
RFP release and
process for applying
for a grant.
Remember to register
for Aprils 22nd, and
23rd CNAN Advocacy
Day were we announce
program winners and
obtain additional
technical training
from Lindsey Daniels
of NCLR on
conducting voter
activities for Not
for Profit
organizations.
The following is
from Lindsey
Daniels of NCLR
I
am pleased to
announce the release
of the Request for
Proposals for NCLR's
civic engagement
initiative, the
Latino Empowerment
and Advocacy Project
(LEAP). Small
grants, technical
assistance, and
training are
available to support
organizations with
their nonpartisan
civic engagement
activities that are
aimed at expanding
the power of the
Latino electorate in
the 2008 election.
The 12 target states
for this grant
program are Arizona,
Arkansas,
California,
Colorado, Florida,
Illinois, Nevada,
New Mexico, New
York, North
Carolina, Tennessee,
and Texas. NCLR
will consider grants
to organizations in
states outside these
targets, but
priority will be
given to the states
listed. I am
specifically writing
to you because your
organization has
successfully
participated in LEAP
in previous years
and/or we have
talked about working
together at various
NCLR-related
gatherings over the
past six months. I
realize that not all
of your
organizations fall
into the target
states listed above,
but NCLR wants to
work with
organizations that
are committed to
civic engagement, as
yours are, so I
would encourage you
to apply.
The deadline for
submitting a
proposal to NCLR is
Friday, April 18,
2008 at 5:00 p.m.
EST. LEAP grants
will be awarded in
the range of
$5,000-$25,000, and
the grant awarded to
each organization
from NCLR will be a
combination of 1)
hard cash support to
achieve the
programmatic goals,
and 2) training and
technical assistance
to strengthen the
organizational
foundation for
nonpartisan,
long-term civic
participation. Read
the instructions and
terms and conditions
(pages 1-3), and
complete the
application forms
(pages 4-6)
before returning to
me via email -
ldaniels@nclr.org
- or via fax - (202)
776-1572.
Please contact me at
(202) 776-1572 or
ldaniels@nclr.org,
if you have any
questions about the
RFP.
We look forward to
receiving your
proposal and working
together to increase
the voice of our
community through
civic participation
- ya es hora!
Saludos,
Lindsay Daniels
